The year 1963 in the Beatles’ history can never be examined enough. In this issue we devote ample space to the recollections of Maureen O’Grady, who as a young reporter for Boyfriend magazine met the Beatles on several occasions. Maureen and photographer Fiona Adams enjoyed a unique rapport with the group – until the doors closed in 1964. Musician, writer and designer Andre Barreau, the co-founder and creative genius of the Bootleg Beatles, interviewed Miss O’Grady at length and worked on his 25-page Furore piece for more than two years while collecting the relevant Boyfriend ephemera and previously unseen photographs we reproduce here. Other constributions include “Anatomy of a Photograph” by Mark Ashworth and “Beatles Signatures via Autopen” by Roger Stormo. On pages 48-49 Piet Schreuders presents the first accurate map of the Indian retreat where the Beatles, seeking spiritual enlightenment, spent almost two months in 1968. This issue is published entirely in English and appears simultaneously with issue #29.
